Gender Bender Bent

On May 1, midnight 2013, Civil Unions became legal in Colorado (see previous blog for photo coverage). Men can be with men, women with women. Society understands homosexuality. Straight, gay, bi.. got it. Certain types of transgender orientations are harder for society to understand or accept.  If you have a more fluid gender identity, how do you present yourself to the world? How do you deal with the challenges presented to you? What does “being authentic” mean to you?

 Jason

For now, this blog is not being promoted
to the world. With Jason's help, I am currently working on a photo essay “Gender Queer.” I am looking for 2 things from the people presented on this blog.
  1.  Your comments. The questions above are my questions. You can answer the questions that you deal with. Your thoughts are much more authentic than anyone else's thoughts about your life.
  2. Your permission to use my photos of you and your comments in this photo essay. You have an opportunity to humanize the gender queerness that family and society views as strange or weird or sick.
Presenting your challenges and choices can help others confused about their gender identity gain some understanding.
